Mordehai studied at the Jewish high school in his hometown and excelled in mathematics and music. In 1943 he moved to Újpest. In the spring of 1944 he was enlisted in a forced labor unit and sent to the Bór camp where he was severely wounded but managed to survive. He arrived in Budapest and joined the underground activities. He stayed in the bunker on Teréz Boulevard. During the days of the blockade on the city the house where the bunker was located was directly hit by a cannonball and caught fire. The people hiding in the bunker had to go out and were discovered by the concierge who reported them to Arrow Cross men. These arrived on the site and started chasing the young Jews. Mordehai and all his friends were killed during this chase. Only one of them, Moshe Katz, survived to tell the story.
